A visit to my local library is just as familiar to Daisy as a visit to the library near her home. Our visits to my library now begin with Daisy returning the books she's had on loan from her previous visit to the library. The process of putting the books under the scanner and then… Continue reading Returning to the library

Using Story Sacks to bring Story Books to Life
Back in May, I wrote a blog about 50 years of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and described a visit to the local library with Daisy where we selected some books and a Story Sack to borrow from the library. 50 years of The Very Hungry Caterpillar
We visited our local library again last weekend. Daisy always enjoys exploring the children's area; with its book stands, displays, posters, small tables, chairs and beanbag cushions it’s a very stimulating environment. We introduced a variety of books to Daisy and she took the opportunity to select some books herself. After a while, we sat together… Continue reading 50 years of The Very Hungry Caterpillar

It's a year since I wrote my first Granny Smith blog! Fifty blogs later, those warm elephant socks that I wrote about are now worn by Teddy and Daisy only uses baby signing when she's really tired. We continue to use the local library regularly but now Daisy enjoys looking through the story boxes to… Continue reading Fifty Blogs Later

Autumn is Grandpa's favourite season so I've invited him to write this - Daisy may be too young to understand the turning of the seasons but she’s not too young to savour the assault on the senses presented by the arrival of Autumn. It is the most sensory of the seasons providing stimulation colour and… Continue reading What to look for in Autumn; a guest blog by Grandpa Smith
‘Hurry scurry, flip flop, Toddle Waddle’ with your toddler at the seaside
We've just been on holiday and we've been refreshed by both our destination and being able to spend days with our granddaughter. Holiday Reading As the holiday to the seaside was approaching, I went in search of books to pack, to add to Daisy's holiday reading, and I found the board book version of 'Toddle… Continue reading ‘Hurry scurry, flip flop, Toddle Waddle’ with your toddler at the seaside
